The Oakville Hospital Foundation has announced a five-year partnership with the Minor Oaks Hockey Association through its annual rep event, the Richard Bell Memorial Tournament. Starting this year, all net proceeds from the tournament will benefit the equipment needs of Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) and the new OakvilleHospital.

“The Oakville Hospital Foundation is grateful for the support of Minor Oaks Hockey Association and their popular Richard Bell Memorial Tournament,” said Tina Triano, CEO of the Oakville Hospital Foundation. “Events such as this tournament put essential medical equipment in the hands of our caregivers.”

“The Richard Bell Memorial Tournament is proud to be in partnership with the Oakville Hospital Foundation, working towards such a worthy community endeavor,” said Mark Bentley, President of the MOHA. “The tournament is dedicated to the memory of Richard Bell, a committed volunteer and long standing member of the board of directors.”

The tournament is an international event that has hosted teams from the United States, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, England and Russia as well as Canada. The event continues to grow year after year: in 2010 it attracted 142 teams who played 329 games over four days and utilized all the arenas in the Town of Oakville. The goal for 2011 is 160 teams.
The Oakville Hospital Foundation is partnering with the community to fund essential medical equipment to enable high quality patient care at OTMH and the new Oakville Hospital. All equipment purchased for OTMH will move with the hospital to its new OakvilleHospital facility.
