OAKVILLE (December 13, 2012) – The campaign to equip the new Oakville Hospital received a boost thanks to a $750,000 gift from the AWB Foundation.
“For many years, the AWB Foundation has supported Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and we have been delighted to witness its growing capacity to care for more and more patients,” said Aubrey Baillie Jr., Director of the AWB Foundation. “This gift to the new Oakville Hospital is a continuation of our trustees’ belief in doing our part in improving healthcare in the Oakville community.”
The AWB Foundation is a private foundation based in Oakville that supports numerous charitable organizations with a focus on health and education programs. The Foundation was created by Aubrey Baillie and administered by his nephew the late Brem Green, who will be honoured with a naming in the new Oakville Hospital.
“We are immensely grateful to the AWB Foundation for providing us with the funding necessary to improve healthcare for our growing and aging population here in Oakville,” said Tina Triano, CEO of the Oakville Hospital Foundation. “This donation will help ensure our new Hospital has the medical equipment and technology it needs to care for our patients and demonstrates the outstanding generosity and vision of Brem, Aubrey and the Foundation Directors, from which our hospital has benefitted enormously over the years.”
The $750,000 gift will be recognized in the Ophthalmology Clinic in the new Oakville Hospital. The clinic will be home to one of the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art eye services in the Mississauga and Halton regions treating patients ranging from premature infants and children to seniors with all forms of eye diseases and conditions. The clinic will house some of the latest diagnostic tools enabling specialists to offer the most current procedures and medications to treat serious conditions such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
