Posted: June 5, 2013
OAKVILLE (June 5, 2013) – After many years of philanthropic and volunteer support to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, Frank Lochan has pledged to donate $1,000,000 to the campaign to equip the new Hospital.

“I support our hospital because it is the organization in this community that we all need,” said Frank Lochan. “This brand new facility will cater to our growing community and will provide the kind of healthcare services that are urgently needed.” Frank added that he has been fortunate to be associated with Brookfield Asset Management Inc. for many years and was inspired by the generosity shown by his Brookfield colleagues over the years.

The former Oakville Hospital Foundation Board Chairman is a passionate supporter of programs that support patients struggling with mental health issues.  In recognition of his generosity, the Lochan family will be honoured through the naming of the Communications Centre in the Emergency Observation Unit and the Adult Mental Health Outpatient Centre

The Adult Mental Health Outpatient Centre in the new Hospital will provide assessment, treatment recommendations and options without the need for a hospital stay. It will be a compilation of several clinics which includes community support, medication clinics, concurrent disorders program, geriatric services and a day hospital program.

Frank and his late wife Azniv have been long time supporters of the Hospital and had already established an endowed fund at the Oakville Community Foundation which provides funds annually, to be used to purchase equipment for the Hospital, currently and in perpetuity.

For seven years, Frank served as a director on the Oakville Hospital Foundation Board, including his role as chairman from 2009-2011. He is a member of the Foundation’s Loyal Friends Society, having given a gift to the Foundation each and every year for the past 13 years and he and his family are recognized for that support on the hospital donor wall in the Humanitarian category representing cumulative giving of $1 to $2 million.

“Frank’s contributions to our hospital go well beyond his philanthropic support,” said Tina Triano, CEO of the Oakville Hospital Foundation. “His work on our Foundation Board helped us develop an enhanced governance model and expand our programs to ensure the long term sustainability of our volunteer base well into the future. He has been a steadfast supporter of our hospital and has made a significant impact in how healthcare is delivered here in Oakville.”
