Wayne and Isabel Fox Donate $700,000 to Oakville Hospital

OAKVILLE (June 25, 2013) – Long-time Oakville residents and philanthropists Wayne and Isabel Fox have deepened their commitment to the Oakville Hospital with a $700,000 endowment gift to the Oakville Hospital Foundation.

“We are very pleased to support the Oakville community in helping to create a world class hospital that will serve today’s residents and many generations to come,” said Wayne Fox. In recognition of their gift they will be recognized through the naming of the Adult Mental Health Inpatient Services at the new Hospital.

The Mental Health Inpatient Services at the new Hospital will continue to provide psychiatric assessment, short-term treatment and stabilization to people who cannot be safely or effectively treated on an outpatient basis. The Mental Health Inpatient Service is divided into two programs – one for adults and one for children and adolescents. Although treatment and facilities will remain separate and distinct for each of the two programs, both programs will work closely with the patients, families, community agencies and self-help groups to ensure a continuum of care that facilitates community living and wellness. Two adult Psychiatric Inpatient Units will provide care for those 18 and older. A 6-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) will be designed and staffed to provide added security to high risk patients, expanding to 10 beds by 2024.

“With this gift, Wayne and Isabel will be sustaining our community’s health for years to come,” said Tina Triano, CEO of the Oakville Hospital Foundation. “We are extremely grateful for their vision and generosity and for being champions of improving healthcare in our community.”
