Every April in Oakville, BMO, CIBC, National Bank, RBC, Scotiabank, and TD, ask their customers to join them as they raise funds for OTMH.

The Birmingham Bed Race is an annual month long fundraising initiative that concludes with a competitive bed race in downtown Oakville.

Former Scotiabank president and Oakville Hospital Foundation board member, the late Bruce Birmingham, recognized the ongoing need for new hospital beds. He established the race in 2006 and 12 years later it has raised more than 1.4 million for OTMH.

The cost of a hospital bed can range from $15,000 to $50,000 and there is an ongoing need for new hospital beds.

The event brings out community residents, local businesses and the banks together for an opportunity to participate in a competitive, yet friendly, race while contributing to the community.

This year’s race will take place Sunday, May 6 at 10 a.m., starting at Lakeshore Road East and Navy Street and finishing at Lakeshore Road East and Dunn Street.

You can show your support to the cause by visiting one of the six participating banks and pledging a donation.
