Paul and Daljit Better Care Story

When Daljit and Paul’s child needed help, they were grateful to find the mental health services they needed close to home at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH). Not all community hospitals have programs that help children and youth struggling with their mental health.

“We feel very blessed and grateful that when we turned to OTMH for help, the hospital had the programs and services needed to support our child and get them on the road to recovery,” says Daljit.

Although they knew coming to OTMH was the right decision, Paul and Daljit still struggled with it being the first time their child was away from them for an extended period. They were nervous and unsure about what an inpatient mental health unit would be like.

Their fears were quickly calmed thanks to the compassionate and exemplary care their child received.

When I think about the care our kid received, I remember the kindness, friendliness, and helpfulness we witnessed the staff demonstrating every day.

Daljit continues, “OTMH helped my kid, taking care of them and giving them the space, support, and treatment they needed to recover. Staff immediately calmed our worries when our child was admitted, reassuring us they were in the best place to get the help they needed.”

Paul and Daljit are new donors to Oakville Hospital Foundation, having given their first donation as appreciation for the care their child received.

“It’s always been important to us to give back to the community. OTMH does so much for families and they did so much for our family, that we wanted to show our support with this donation. OTMH helped our child recover while alleviating our anxieties. We were so grateful to be able to find the care our family needed, so close to home.”
