Janet and Tony's Better Care Story

After moving to Oakville last October, Tony and Janet knew they wanted to do more than just settle into a new community—they wanted to support it.

Their generous $250,000 donation to support Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) reflects a deep belief in the power of local healthcare and a very personal connection to the hospital.

Janet’s mother receives regular care from Dr. Pandeya, a nephrologist at OTMH, and often visits the Emergency Department due to ongoing health concerns.

“Our time at Oakville Hospital is always pleasant,” Janet shared. “We are very touched by the medical team. Despite the language barrier between my mother and the staff, the care always feels genuine.”

That compassionate experience inspired Tony and Janet to give back in a significant way.

“Coming from a country where healthcare isn’t as accessible, I understand how critical it is to support the system we have here,” Janet said. “Government funding is limited. It’s up to those of us who can give to help ensure the hospital continues to grow and reach more people.”

For Tony and Janet, their gift is a reflection of their values—an act of leadership, gratitude, and belief in the importance of strong community healthcare.

“Actions speak louder than words,” Janet said. “By donating, I hope to inspire others who may be thinking about giving.”

Seeing their plaque installed at the hospital was a powerful moment.

“It feels unreal,” Janet said. “I’ve always seen plaques in hospitals and dreamed of seeing our name on one someday. It’s a wish coming true.”

Sharing that moment with family made it all the more meaningful.

“My mother has been through so much, and yet she never stops smiling. She inspires me. I want to make her proud.”

Looking ahead, Tony and Janet hope their donation—along with gifts from others—will help the hospital grow, add more equipment, and continue to offer high-quality care to more families.

Their message to others is clear: every gift matters.

“Just because we had the means to make a large donation doesn’t mean smaller contributions aren’t equally valuable,” Janet said. “If everyone gives a little love, time, or care—even the smallest bit—it can make a big change.”

Their plaque carries a message that beautifully sums up their giving spirit:
“When you hand out the roses, the fragrance remains in your hands.”

It’s a lasting reminder that generosity is never one-sided. The impact lives on in the hands of those who give, and in the lives of those who receive.

You can make an impact, too.

Give today to help more families get the care they need.
