Halton Healthcare has been recognized by Ontario Health with a Quality & Innovation Award for its work in improving life after breast cancer.

The Restore-Me After Breast Cancer Clinic at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is the first hospital-based service in Ontario to offer physician-funded 3D nipple-areola complex (NAC) tattooing – a final step in breast reconstruction that helps many patients feel whole again.

Thanks to donor support, Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) is one of the first community hospitals in Ontario to offer this service. This specialized tattooing technique restores the appearance of the areola after a mastectomy, helping patients regain confidence, dignity, and a sense of closure in their healing journey.

By offering this service in-hospital, OTMH has removed cost and travel barriers, making post-cancer care more accessible and equitable. The response has been incredible. Referrals continue to grow and so does the impact.
