Doubling Impact for Cancer Care

For over 50 years, Earl and Pam Storie have called Oakville home.
They’ve raised their family here, stayed active in the community, and seen how vital Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) is for those who need care. What started as a connection through routine visits grew into something much more meaningful.
The Stories have been dedicated donors for over ten years. They made their first major gift to OTMH after being inspired by a matching opportunity, which allowed them to double their impact.
“We liked the idea that our donation would go twice as far,” Earl recalls.
That match encouraged them to elevate their giving and since then, they’ve continued to support the Foundation’s mission to connect generosity to world-class community care in Oakville.
Now, they’re paying it forward. This Giving Tuesday, Earl and Pam are offering their own $100,000 matching gift to inspire others to give.
We’ve experienced how important OTMH is, especially when you’re facing a serious health issue,” Earl says. “We hope this match motivates others, just like it did for us years ago.
Their support of OTMH became even more personal last year when Earl was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that develops in connective tissues like muscles or fat. The hospital’s Emergency Department team quickly acted, performing tests and providing the answers he needed to begin treatment. Earl remains deeply grateful for OTMH’s swift and compassionate care during such a critical time.
The Storie family has seen how OTMH has grown to meet the community’s needs. But with Oakville’s population growing rapidly, the demand for advanced care, especially in cancer treatment, continues to rise.
That’s why Earl and Pam are directing their Giving Tuesday match to cancer care. Every dollar donated will help fund essential equipment and expand treatment spaces so more patients can receive life-saving care close to home.
“This hospital is here for all of us,” Pam says. “Together, we can make sure it’s ready for whatever comes next.”
