Construction Begins on OTMH’s Expansion

111 new acute care beds are coming to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, and our community’s support will help bring them to life.

Construction has officially started on the shelled space at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH), unfinished floors built into the hospital back in 2015 so it could grow when Oakville needed it to.

That need is here. Halton Healthcare welcomed Ontario’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones, to OTMH on August 27 to mark the start of construction, part of a larger project that will add up to 123 new acute care beds across OTMH and Milton District Hospital. At OTMH alone, that means 111 new beds.

The province is funding the construction, expected to wrap by the end of 2027, with new spaces opening to patients in spring 2028. But new walls and floors are only part of the story. Every bed needs equipment behind it: monitors, furnishings, and the technology care teams rely on every day. That part falls to us.

The Oakville Hospital Foundation is raising the funds to equip this space entirely through community support. It’s the next major chapter of our NXT10 campaign, and it’s already underway thanks to three leadership gifts.

Growth like this doesn’t happen without a community behind it.
