There is no better place to recover than your own home. Thanks to donor support, more surgical patients at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital are getting there faster than ever.

It started with robotics. Donors helped bring advanced surgical technology and equipment to OTMH, giving surgeons the precision to operate through smaller incisions. Smaller incisions mean less pain, faster healing, and for many patients, a safe return home the same day as their surgery. Not long ago, a procedure like a knee replacement meant several nights in a hospital bed. Today, many patients are back in their own by evening.

Technology alone doesn’t get patients home. That took the people of Halton Healthcare. Surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, physiotherapists, and pharmacists redesigned how patients are prepared for surgery and supported through recovery. Patients now receive clear education before their procedure, personalized recovery plans, and digital tools like SeamlessMD that guide them through healing at home, step by step.

The impact reaches beyond each patient. Every same-day discharge frees up an inpatient bed for someone who needs it, helping the hospital care for more people across our growing region.
