New Ultrasound Unit Coming to OTMH as RCO Foundation Marks 100 Years of Community Service
- Jun 1, 2026

June 1, 2026 (Halton Region, ON) — A new ultrasound unit for the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) department at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) is set to advance care and increase access for our community. Making this possible is a generous gift of $250,000 gift to Oakville Hospital Foundation (OHF) by the RCO Foundation. The gift also marks a meaningful contribution to OHF’s NXT10 Campaign, a bold plan to fund the next decade of innovation, technology, and patient-centred care at OTMH.
Halton Region’s population is expected to double over the next 20 years, bringing with it the highest demand for acute hospital services in Ontario. Diagnostic Imaging sits at the centre of that growth. The department serves patients at every stage of life — and for many, ultrasound is their first step toward answers, whether monitoring a pregnancy, assessing abdominal concerns, investigating a breast abnormality, or guiding a life-saving procedure. Until a problem is detected, it cannot be treated, and the DI team is often where that detection begins.
“The RCO Foundation in association with the Rotary Club of Oakville has been a steadfast partner in caring for this community for generations. This gift is extraordinary — not just for its size, but for what it represents: a century of Rotarians who have shown up, given back, and made Oakville a better place. Investments like this one are exactly what our NXT10 Campaign is built on — community belief in the future of care, right here at home. Every patient who benefits from this ultrasound unit will be a reflection of that legacy,” said Mary McPherson, CEO, Oakville Hospital Foundation.
The NXT10 Campaign reflects OHF’s commitment to shaping what comes next for healthcare in Halton. Focused on clinical innovation, surgical advancement, diagnostic technology, and expanded access to care, the campaign is a call to the community to invest in the hospital’s next chapter. The RCO Foundation’s gift to Diagnostic Imaging is a powerful example of what that investment looks like in practice — world-class care, close to home.
“This investment reflects The RCO Foundation’s commitment to supporting practical, high-impact initiatives that strengthen our community,” said Gary Comerford, President, The RCO Foundation.
“Building on Rotary’s long history of supporting local healthcare, this project will help ensure patients have timely access to essential diagnostic care,” said Lynn Childs, President, Rotary Club of Oakville.
“Ultrasound is one of the most critical tools we have in Diagnostic Imaging. It is fast, safe, and gives our team the clarity we need to act quickly for patients. This new unit will bring sharper images, better technology, and ultimately faster answers for the people who walk through our doors every day. It is exactly the kind of investment that keeps OTMH at the leading edge of patient care, and we are deeply grateful to The RCO Foundation for making it possible,” said Marc Cloutier, Manager, Diagnostic Imaging, Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
The RCO Foundation’s gift to OHF reflects Rotary’s commitment to the health and well-being of Oakville neighbours.
