From Mary

This past year has been extraordinary and it’s all thanks to you.

Your generosity helped us to raise an incredible $17.4 million for Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH)!

This record-breaking achievement means better patient outcomes and advanced medical capabilities. It means our friends, family, and neighbours can count on receiving the best possible care close to home.

Building on this achievement, I’d like to reflect on another standout moment from the past year: Last November, we announced a record $30 million contribution from our inaugural Flagship Families, marking a historic milestone in our journey. This transformative donation accelerates advancements in technology, research, and patient-centered care, shaping the future of healthcare in our region.

But it’s not just the transformational gifts that have made this our best year. Every donation, no matter the size, plays a crucial role in strengthening our hospital. The collective support of all our donors ensures that vital programs and services can continue to benefit our entire community.

Thank you for being a part of this exceptional year.

Please take a moment to see what you helped make possible in this special report.

This past year, you helped us:

Fund Leading-Edge Pathology Equipment

Your contributions funded a new tissue processor, four microtomes, and two state-of-the-art microscopes. This equipment allows our healthcare team to diagnose conditions more quickly and accurately, leading to faster treatment and better outcomes for our patients.

Enable Areola Tattooing for Breast Cancer Patients

Thanks to you, we’ve become the first community hospital in Ontario to offer areola tattooing. This technique restores the physical dimension and depth of an areola after mastectomy breast reconstruction, playing a crucial role in the healing journey for breast cancer patients.

Revolutionize Imaging with PACS

Your generosity funded the new Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), essential for our imaging needs. This advanced system stores, retrieves, and displays diagnostic images. Once operational, PACS will significantly speed up our diagnostic processes, ensuring patients receive timely results and treatments.

Support Our Smallest Patients

Your support has been crucial in caring for our premature babies in the Special Care Nursery (SCN). With your help, we are getting four new incubators, essential for regulating temperature and humidity for our tiniest, most vulnerable patients. We’re also adding infant warmers, which perform vital functions like weighing, delivering oxygen, and resuscitating infants. Additionally, new phototherapy blankets will help jaundiced babies recover.

These advanced tools ensure our newborns and their families receive the best care close to home. Your contributions keep families together and provide the specialized care each baby needs to grow strong.

Your commitment to our hospital has not only supported these advancements but has also touched countless lives. From new mothers and their babies to patients battling serious illnesses, your impact is felt every day in our community.

Once again, thank you for your generosity.

It’s your support that ensures our hospital remains a pillar of strength, support, and healing in our community. Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Mary McPherson, CFRE

Hospital Highlights

Your Support at Work

Here at the Foundation, we meet so many patients and families who have been helped by OTMH — and your generosity. These extraordinary journeys are constant reminders of why your support is so important.

See the difference your donation makes through the story of Dr. Jonathan Sam, Chief of Pediatrics at Oakville and Georgetown, Halton Healthcare.

Dr. Sam shares the story of 2-year-old Bryson who was in full respiratory failure caused by asthma. His team used donor-funded equipment to save Bryson’s life, including a high-flow respiratory support machine that heats, humidifies and pressurizes oxygen which helped to open his lungs and save his life.
